Manual Breast Pump: Before each use wash all parts separately with lukewarm water and mild detergent, rinse thoroughly (dishwasher safe, top rack only). Take care when removing and washing the valve: do not insert objects into the valve as this might damage it and cause the extractor to malfunction. To sterilize: put water in a pan to boil, once it is boiling turn off the heat. Immerse all the pieces for NO MORE THAN 5 MINUTES. Remove the pieces from the water and let them cool before assembling for use. When cleaning the nipple with a brush or sponge, DO NOT go through the suction hole – it could tear.

Breast Shields: Before and after each use, wash with water and neutral detergent and rinse well. Then, sterilize in boiling water during 5 minutes.

Insulated Bottle Bag: After each use, clean the inside with a cloth dampened in warm water and a mild detergent. Do not immerse the bottle holder in water. Do not machine wash. Do not iron.

Brest Pump:

To assemble the pump:

– Insert the valve into the bottom of the pump’s body, screw on the adapter and then screw on the bottle.

– Insert the diaphragm with the stem in the upper part of the pump’s body; fit the lever on the same stem and then the cover.

– Place the massage pad in the cup and then the cup cover, to keep the extractor always clean.

– Now the pump is ready to use!

Use Instructions:

– Make sure the extractor is correctly assembled before using it.

– Wash your hands well and check that your breasts are clean. To check that the breast ducts are not blocked, gently squeeze your nipples, some drops should come out.

– Place the cup on the breast with the nipple in the centre, verify that air cannot escape, otherwise suction will not occur, (you can use water to moisten around the nipple, in this way; a better vacuum is achieved).

– Start by gently pressing down on the lever until you feel the suction on your chest. Then let the lever return to its rest position.

– Repeat the previous step quickly 5 or 6 times to start the sucking reflex.

– Take a slower pace, pressing down on the lever and holding it down for up to 3 seconds before letting it return to its resting position – continue this way while the milk is flowing.

– If you are not successful in expressing milk, do not continue pumping for more than 5 minutes; try to do it at another time. If the process becomes very uncomfortable or painful, stop using the pump and consult your doctor.

– If the pressure generated is uncomfortable or causes pain, remove the pump by placing a finger between your chest and the pump to release the vacuum seal.

– If you have sore or cracked nipples, you may want to stop pumping until they heal.

– The extractor has two levels; Level 1: gentle suction pressure / Level 2: firm suction pressure (see illustration).

– Heat can help in the extraction process: if you use the pump after a warm bath or put a warm cloth on your chest for a few minutes before starting to pump.

– When finished, carefully remove the breast pump, hold it upright and unscrew the bottle from the pump.

– If you want to feed your baby immediately, assemble the bottle.

– If you do not want to feed your baby immediately, put the disc on the nipple cap, screw to the bottle and store it in the refrigerator.

– Clean the extractor according to the instructions in “Cleaning”.  Remember that breast milk should be kept in the refrigerator for 24 hours only, (do not store it on the refrigerator door). Ask your doctor about how to store, freeze, thaw and heat breast milk. Attention: once frozen and thawed, breast milk can NOT be refrozen.

Breast Shield: First check the breast cup is clean and sterilized. Then, with your breast just washed, turn over the edge of the breast cup and place the tip so that it covers the nipple and the largest possible area of the breast. If you wish, you can use a small amount of moisturizer around the edge to improve adhesion.

Insulated Bottle Bag: Use it to store only COLD BREAST MILK or HOT WATER (previously boiled), for no more than 4 hours. Keep in mind that the hot or cold contents stored, will lose their original temperature more quickly if you place the bag in an environment of extreme cold or heat. Always check the temperature and condition of the food before feeding it to the baby. Ask your paediatrician about the best way to preserve heat and transport baby food.
